MC542-Mini Two-Phase 57 Stepper Driver

Product Overview

The MC542-Mini is a 57 digital stepper driver developed based on a high-performance, low-power ARM chip. Its driver features a built-in intelligent regulator with PID parameter self-tuning functionality, which automatically generates the most suitable parameters for different motors without manual adjustment, optimizing motor performance. This driver operates the motor with very low noise.

Features

Voltage input range: DC 20V to 50V Maximum peak current: 4.2A Subdivision range: 400 to 25600 ppr Pulse form: Pulse + Direction Pulse response frequency: 0 to 200KHz Automatic motor parameter tuning function With overvoltage, overcurrent, tracking error overrun and other protection functions.

Driver Function Description

Driver FunctionsOperating Instructions

Operating Current Setting

The output current of the driver is set by three DIP switches SW1-SW3, with a total of 8 levels of output current. For specific output current settings, please refer to the driver panel instructions.

Automatic Half-Current Function

Users can set the driver's automatic half-current function via SW4. OFF means the static current is set to half of the dynamic current, ON means the static current is the same as the dynamic current. Generally, SW4 should be set to OFF during operation to reduce heating of the motor and driver and improve reliability. About 0.3 seconds after the pulse train stops, the current automatically reduces by 50% (actual value 55%), theoretically reducing heat generation by 65%.

Microstep Subdivision Setting

The microstep subdivision of the driver is set by four DIP switches SW5-SW8, with a total of 15 microstep levels. Users should stop the driver before setting the subdivision. For specific microstep subdivision settings, please refer to the driver panel instructions.

Indicator Lights

The driver has two indicator lights: red and green. The green light is the power indicator and stays on when the driver is powered. The red light is the fault indicator and stays on when overvoltage or overcurrent faults occur. The red light turns off after the fault is cleared. When a fault occurs, only power cycling and re-enabling can clear the fault.

Signal Interface

PUL+ and PUL- are the positive and negative terminals of the control pulse signal; DIR+ and DIR- are the positive and negative terminals of the direction signal; ENA+ and ENA- are the positive and negative terminals of the enable signal.

Motor Interface

A+ and A- connect to the positive and negative terminals of the stepper motor's A-phase winding; B+ and B- connect to the positive and negative terminals of the B-phase winding. Swapping the A and B phase windings reverses the motor direction.

Power Interface

Powered by DC power supply, operating input voltage range: 20~50VDC, recommended operating voltage 36VDC, power supply greater than 100W.

Installation Instructions

The driver dimensions are 116×69.2×26.5mm, with mounting hole spacing of 109mm. It can be installed horizontally or vertically (vertical installation is recommended). During installation, it should be mounted tightly against a metal cabinet to facilitate heat dissipation.
