MC556-Mini Two-phase 57/60 Stepper Driver
Product Overview
The MC556-mini is a digital two-phase hybrid stepper motor driver that utilizes the latest 32-bit DSP control technology. It can be customized to any subdivision between 400 and 25600 and any current value within the rated current according to user requirements. Additionally, it features an internal motor parameter auto-recognition function, allowing it to adopt corresponding operating parameters for different motors, resulting in very smooth operation and minimal noise.
Features
Driver Function Description
Driver Functions | Operating Instructions
Output Current Setting | The output current of the driver is set by three DIP switches SW1-SW3, with a total of 8 levels of output current. For specific output current settings, please refer to the driver panel instructions.
Automatic Half-Current Function | Users can set the driver's automatic half-current function via SW4. OFF means the static current is set to half of the dynamic current, ON means the static current is the same as the dynamic current. In general use, SW4 should be set to OFF to reduce heating of the motor and driver and improve reliability. About 0.3 seconds after the pulse train stops, the current automatically reduces by 50% (actual value 55%), theoretically reducing heat generation by 65%.
Microstep Subdivision Setting | The microstep subdivision of the driver is set by four DIP switches SW5-SW8, with a total of 16 microstep subdivisions. When setting the subdivision, the driver should be stopped first. For specific microstep subdivision settings, please refer to the driver panel instructions.
Indicator Lights | The driver has two indicator lights: red and green. The green light is the power indicator; it stays on steadily when the driver is powered on. The red light is the fault indicator; it stays on steadily when overvoltage or overcurrent faults occur. After the fault is cleared, the red light goes off. When a fault occurs, only power cycling and re-enabling can clear the fault.
Signal Interface | PUL+ and PUL- are the positive and negative terminals of the control pulse signal; DIR+ and DIR- are the positive and negative terminals of the direction signal; ENA+ and ENA- are the positive and negative terminals of the enable signal.
Motor Interface | A+ and A- connect to the positive and negative terminals of the stepper motor's A-phase winding; B+ and B- connect to the positive and negative terminals of the B-phase winding. Swapping the A and B phase windings reverses the motor direction.
Power Interface | Powered by DC power supply, operating input voltage range: 20V~50VDC, recommended operating voltage 36VDC, power supply greater than 100W.
Installation Instructions | Driver dimensions are: 86×55×20.5mm with mounting hole spacing of 79mm. It can be installed horizontally or vertically (vertical installation is recommended). During installation, it should be mounted tightly against a metal cabinet to facilitate heat dissipation.
