MC860-Mini Two-phase 86 Stepper Driver
Product Overview
The MC860-Mini is a classic two-phase 86 stepper driver, mainly used to drive 86-type two-phase hybrid stepper motors. It offers 16 microstepping subdivisions, with a maximum step count of 51200 pulses per revolution; its operating peak current range is 2.4A to 7.2A, with 8 output current levels and a current resolution of approximately 0.6A. It features automatic half-current, overvoltage, and overcurrent protection functions. This driver supports both AC and DC power supply, with a recommended operating voltage range of 18V-80VAC and 24-110VDC.
Features
Driver Function Description
Driver Functions | Operating Instructions
Operating Current Setting | The output current of the driver is set by three DIP switches SW1-SW3, with a total of 8 levels. For specific output current settings, please refer to the driver panel instructions.
Automatic Half-Current Function | Users can set the driver's automatic half-current function via SW4. OFF means the static current is set to half of the dynamic current, ON means the static current is the same as the dynamic current. Generally, SW4 should be set to OFF to reduce heating of the motor and driver and improve reliability. About 0.3 seconds after the pulse train stops, the current automatically reduces by 50% (actual value 55%), theoretically reducing heat generation by 65%.
Microstep Subdivision Setting | The microstep subdivision of the driver is set by four DIP switches SW5-SW8, with a total of 16 microstep levels. When setting the subdivision, the driver should be stopped first. For specific microstep subdivision settings, please refer to the driver panel instructions.
Indicator Lights | The driver has two indicator lights: red and green. The green light is the power indicator and stays on when the driver is powered. The red light is the fault indicator and stays on when overvoltage or overcurrent faults occur. After the fault is cleared, the red light goes off. When a fault occurs, only power cycling and re-enabling can clear the fault.
Signal Interface | PUL+ and PUL- are the positive and negative terminals of the control pulse signal; DIR+ and DIR- are the positive and negative terminals of the direction signal; ENA+ and ENA- are the positive and negative terminals of the enable signal.
Motor Interface | A+ and A- connect to the positive and negative terminals of the stepper motor's A-phase winding; B+ and B- connect to the positive and negative terminals of the B-phase winding. Swapping the A and B phase windings reverses the motor direction.
Power Interface | Powered by DC power supply, operating input voltage range: 24V-110VDC or 18V-80VAC. Recommended input voltage is above 48VDC, and power supply capacity should be greater than 300W.
Installation Instructions | Driver dimensions are: 118×75.5×35.5mm with mounting hole spacing of 112.5mm. It can be installed horizontally or vertically (vertical installation is recommended). During installation, it should be mounted tightly against a metal cabinet to facilitate heat dissipation.
